“Ukraine, Russia and beyond: What are the future prospects for the European Union’s Eastern Partnership?” Public Round Table Discussion
26. April, 17:00 – 18:30

With its Eastern Partnership, the European Union seeks to strengthen and deepen the political and economic relations between the EU, its Member States and the partner countries in the Eastern Neighbourhood, based on democracy, human rights and the rule of law. However, the rise of authoritarianism, violent conflict and war in the region as well as processes of de-democratization inside the EU increasingly question the premises of this policy. Russia’s aggressive policy in the region, towards Ukraine, Belarus and the Southern Caucasus, further challenge the Union’s current stance on the neighbourhood.
A distinguished group of scholars will reflect upon and discuss current developments in the Eastern Neighbourhood and its implications for the prospects of the Eastern Partnership.
